Teaching Nursing Informatics is a must
Why teaching Nursing Informatics is a must?Sometimes nursing students ask why we need to take up computers subjects like nursing informatics. Not knowing that this subject is really important to us future nurses. In order not to become an ignorant human being and also as nurses we should do well our responsibility in hospital with our heart and mind.
That's why Commission of Higher Education (CHED) passed a memorandum order CMO No. 5 series 2008 to all deans of the college of nursing throughout the country. It requires the replacement of basic computer subject with the 3 unit of Nursing Informatics in the curriculum of the new 5-year Bachelor of science in Nursing. In April 2009. CMO No. 12 series 2009 was passed, where the course Nursing Informatics was subject-coded as IT. And NI in administration, education and research as topic were deleted.
Nursing Informatics is a subject who can really help us nursing students to learned more that we can use in our future work as nurses. Because now a days, we can't really deny that technology was surrounded us. And as future nurses, we should be always updated on new technology that we can use in clinical setting, in order for us to have a accurate nursing processes. :)
